Hi there! I’m Michelle Rawlings, a freelance journalist and editor looking to grow my nonfiction portfolio. Please continue reading for a summary of my resumé and qualifications.


Writing: I have extensive experience in the freelancing world, with hundreds of published articles and close to one million combined page views. My articles are constantly some of the most successful on the host’s site, and they often drive in new, unique traffic, as well.

My published articles are in a variety of areas, including: breaking news reports, pieces of investigative journalism, millennial lifestyle posts, self-help articles, marketing blurbs and press releases, and listicles. I have also contributed to various print magazines, literary anthologies, and ongoing commercial writing projects. Several of my major clients are listed below.

Editing: Additionally, I have edited for many of the organizations listed below, as well as many individual authors. My work in copyediting is extensive and can span across any genre, but I also provide developmental+copy editing for fiction writers in a variety of genres and fact-checking+copy editing services for nonfiction writers in any field, especially politics. I pride myself in working quickly, efficiently, and at a reasonable price.

The Buzz, previously known as The ‘Doah, Shenandoah University’s student newspaper

As Editor in Chief of this publication, I worked closely with each of my writers to improve their overall writing skills and help them grow as reporters and storytellers. In addition to editing each article prior to publication, I solely designed our website, including logos, and I actively worked with our social media manager to maintain our social media pages. This experience helps me give you sound advice throughout the publication and promotion processes.

The Journal, Martinsburg, WVa.’s award-winning daily newspaper

I worked as a copy editor for The Journal from January of 2017 until July of 2017. There, I designed newspaper pages, wrote headlines, and collaborated with other editors to complete daily papers efficiently and accurately.

Conservative Institute, a political news and conservative commentary site

I began working for the Conservative Institute as a technical and content editor in August 2017. In July 2018, I was promoted to the role of executive editor, which I presently hold. In my position, I work remotely to edit stories for clarity, accuracy, and formatting, and I help implement SEO and SMO procedures. I also train new hires, work one-on-one with writers to help them improve their writing for the future, and maintain the company’s style guide.
